My monster hides
inside an industrial cage
in the corner bones pick dry
piled to the ceiling
no capacity from mirth

With each breath
I take, I learn and grow
I am NOT my monster!
I have the capacity
to make an impact

At first I may get upset,
frustrated by being called out
however and it doesn’t take
long maybe an hour
or so my mind shifts
I realize my mistake
I understand the anxiety
behind impressions
of what people leave
I am NOT my monster!
I believe in the potential
and stardust qualities
that life offers
I am NOT my monster!
I will look at myself
in the mirror every day
and acknowledge
I am NOT my monster!
My monster is NOT me
it NEVER will be!!!
