just because
you were born into a family
doesn’t necessarily
mean you belong
there
blood ties,
don’t keep
anyone fastened
our earth
affords us
our ohana
i gather my sisters
before the harvest moon
for a moment of appreciation
empathy has diminished
amidst ignorance and stereotype
women can be incredibly
malevolent
now
is not the time
to asses blame
but to genuinely
reach a higher level
of functional prehension
one might
render negativity
to float into the strata
similar to a long breath
that’s been held
for an eternity
decisively
liberated.
