Henry the VIII

In secondary
school — our mandatory
reading surrounded
anything that ensconced
the subject of Shakespeare
— nevertheless I never
directly studied the dialogue
of Henry the VIII
that came later — where
focus found higher illumination
in Robert Bolt\’s play
A Man For All Seasons.

A play which outlined
the simplicity of
the church, divorce
& un-tethering yourself
from another human being
nearly half a dozen times.
Tragic to say — life partners

were so dispensable —
