“Our hospital was famous and housed many great poets and singers. Did the hospital specialize in poets and singers or was it that poets and singers specialized in madness?”

i\’ve given much thought
to the concept of mental status
     with exposure to normal individuals
who seemed mad — and mad individuals
              that seemed normal

the desire to compare
   is one that should genuinely
      never have seen the illumination

think about it for a moment
here you are — in attempt
to be the best possible you
                          while fear of inadequacy
                              starts to manifest a lacerated
                                  visage steeped only in darkness
                             makes its presence known
                        an evil guardian twisted
                  who wants nothing
           other than to amplify weakness

how will you decide to proceed?
be the you you were meant to be
          and proceed in a fashion
              of comprehension
                   and awareness

for me — i know there are individuals
who surpass my talent and am equally
              mindful that i am proficient
                  with the gifts i house

     so you see?
          some above
                 some below

           with me comfortable
                in the middle
                   just being
                        moi
