i\’ve rarely written poems
about mermaids, not because
i don\’t relish their existence
— but because the few occasions
i took note — their entity dissolved
about mermaids, not because
i don\’t relish their existence
— but because the few occasions
i took note — their entity dissolved
inside my mind. all of a sudden,
on a random day, in the shower
about to grab the conditioner
thoughts began to direct
to a simple conceptualized thought
from a netflix original series —
mermaids. i clearly remember
something a new mermaid said,
the act of acquiring a drink of water
will never be same ever again.
the careful consideration, of how
to wield a simple drink and the fear
associated with the discovery
of your true identity, if a drop
absorbs into your skin.
thirst, is an entirely different
ball of wax, especially if i don\’t
want my tail to make an appearance.
